Our Worship
Our worship is centered around the reception of the Word of God, prayer, and the Holy Sacraments. We refer to this worship as the Divine Service. Our worship is much like breathing. We breathe in the means of God’s grace (His Word and Sacraments) and we breathe out our praise and thanksgivings for these great gifts. To deliver these gits to us, God gave His Church the Office of the Holy Ministry. Through the pastor, as through an instrument, God delivers these gifts for those who gather together in the service and hear His voice.
The Sacraments
A sacrament is the Word of God attached to physical, tangible things. In Holy Baptism, God’s Word is in and with the water. In the Lord’s Supper, the Word of God is in, with, and under the bread and wine so that they truly are the body and blood of our Lord Christ.
The Lord’s Supper, also known as the Sacrament of the Altar or the Eucharist, is the central sacrament of every Divine Service. Every Sunday, the members of our church gather together to receive the true body and blood of our Lord Christ in the Sacrament. In this sacrament, we receive exactly what Christ says it gives us: forgiveness of sins.
Closed Communion
At Trinity Lutheran, we confess and believe that when we come together to partake of the Lord’s Supper, we are confessing our undivided unity in the Holy Spirit. St. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 11 there are to be no divisions among those who come together to partake of the body and blood. Therefore, only those who share the confession of our altar and who are members in good standing of a Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod congregation are allowed to partake of the Supper with us.
If you are visiting but are not a communicant member of an LCMS church, you are welcome to come to the communion rail and cross your arms over your chest to indicate that you would like to receive a blessing from the pastor.
If you are interested in becoming a member of our parish, please feel free to speak to a member or to pastor. New members classes (called adult catechesis) are offered year-round and will be tailored to your availability.
